Donnie Edwards was automatically inducted into the GFL Hall of Fame as part of the 2009 class. He finished his career 5th on the all-time scoring list for LBs, tied for 4th in INTs and 3rd in return yards. He made the All-GFL team 9 times (4 as a 1st teamer) and over the 1997-2007 time period, he was second in points by a LB only to Ray Lewis.
Edwards was never picked in a GFL draft. He was added as a free agent by the Baltimore Blackbirds in his rookie season of 1997, was kept the next two seasons, then was traded to the Denver Dinosaurs just prior to the 2000 season. He spent the rest of his career as a Dinosaur. With the Blackbirds, he won two division titles and one Gregory Cup. With the Dinosaurs, he won three division titles and finished the post-season in 4th place twice.
