Clyde Simmons was inducted into the GFL Hall of Fame in 2001.  Over his long career, he played for 8 different GFL teams.

Simmons was a dominant force and made the all-pro team in each of the league's first three seasons.  Over those three seasons, he stands second only to Reggie White in sacks, tackles, and points by a DE. For his career, he stands 4th all-time in sacks and points by a DE.

During his best 2 seasons (1991-1992), Simmons helped lead the Tampa Bay Toe Cheese to back-to-back division titles.  The following season he helped the New York Mammoths to a division title and a trip to the conference title game.  He also helped lead the '94 Miami Snowbirds, '96 San Diego Sharks, and '99 San Francisco Hippies to the playoffs.  However, he never won the Gregory Cup.
